Meet the A.R.C's newest permanent resident
In October 2015, we took in D’Arnold from the Provincial Vet. He had been hit by a car and his right front leg was severely damaged. His previous owners felt he did not need vet care and after 5 days, the province stepped in and removed the dog from the property.
Our efforts to save the leg by now hindered by the onset of infection, major pain, and issues casting the injured leg after being left unattended for days. Several attempts were made to save the leg, but all options failed to provide D’Arnold with a pain-free recovery. In the end, the decision was made to completely remove the leg and it was amputated in early November.
Despite a few days of tough recovery after the amputation, it is amazing how fast he recovered from surgery and how much he reminds us of our beloved Fipper. He loves everyone, other dogs, cats and people, and has a vengeance for toys – raiding the baskets of laundry waited to be folded for freshly washed toys.
Please come down to visit with D’Arnold! You will find the three-legged, one blue-eyed, handsome and hairy, dog sleeping on the couch. Just hang on to your belongings...he is known to rummage through purses and run off with wallets. He is a bit of a doggie kleptomaniac.
We think he’s just very dedicated in collecting donations for the A.R.C!
