Volunteers are the heartbeat of D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre. Our small staff team couldn’t care for the hundreds of cats and dogs we rescue every year without the energy, skill, and dedication of people like you.
Whether you love cat cuddles, doggy playtime, or supporting behind the scenes, there’s a role for everyone. You’ll build skills, meet like-minded animal lovers, and experience the joy of seeing a rescued pet gain confidence and health before heading to their forever home.

The experience
Volunteering at D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre is hands-on, meaningful, and often the best part of your week.
You’ll spend time with cats, dogs, or both, depending on your comfort and preference. That might mean socializing shy cats, walking energetic dogs, or helping animals build trust and confidence before adoption.
Along the way, you’ll meet a community of fellow animal lovers who care just as much as you do. Many of our volunteers form lasting friendships, both with people and the animals they help.
If you’re exploring a future in animal care, volunteering is also a great way to gain real experience and learn directly from a team working in rescue every day.
Commitment and expectations
- Must be at least 16 years old
- One-year minimum commitment, 3 hours per week
- Respectful, responsible, and passionate about animal care
