What we do
Every day, D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre works to give cats and dogs a second chance.
As a for life animal rescue, we care for stray, abandoned, and vulnerable animals while helping families make responsible, lifelong adoption decisions.
Our work is guided by three core commitments: to the animals in our care, to the people who adopt them, and to the community that supports them.

Animals
The stray, abandoned, and vulnerable cats and dogs who come through our doors are at the heart of everything we do.
Each animal receives:
A full veterinary checkup
Follow-up medical care and medication when needed
Safe and comfortable temporary housing
Socialization and enrichment
Daily exercise, nutritious food, fresh water, and soft beds
Support for behavioural or emotional needs
Careful placement in a safe, permanent home
Adopters
Adoption is a partnership, and we support families every step of the way. When you adopt from D’Arcy’s ARC, you join a community that cares deeply about lifelong success.
We help adopters:
Find the right cat or dog for their lifestyle
Understand the history, personality, and needs of each animal
Arrange spay or neuter appointments when animals are too young at adoption
Navigate the early days of life with a new pet through ongoing guidance and support
Community
Animal rescue doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a community. Together, we are building a future where fewer animals are abandoned and more find the homes they deserve. We work with people across Manitoba to:
Rescue stray and abandoned cats and dogs
Help connect animals with safe alternatives when we cannot take them in directly
Provide access to pet essentials and resources that support responsible pet ownership
Assist families facing unexpected litters with both rehoming and prevention
Offer volunteer opportunities and work placements for students and community members
150+ Animals
At any given time, more than 150 animals may be waiting for adoption through our shelter, foster homes, and community locations. Every donation helps provide the food, medical care, and safe shelter they need while they wait for their forever home.
